Black Women, White Men & Dr. Laura's Views on Interracial Marriage

"If you're that hypersensitive about color and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry out of your race," Dr. Laura Schlessinger advised.

What in the deep-fried hell is going on? Interestingly, coverage of Schlessinger's outbursts and apology have squarely focused on her repeated spewing of the n-word. Yet, the rant sparked when the caller -- a black woman identified as Jade -- voiced dissatisfaction with statements her white husband's buddies have made. "We've been around some of his friends and family members who start making racist comments. And my husband ignores those comments, and it hurts my feelings." As an example, Jade explained her neighbors recently visited her home and asked her to speak on behalf of all black people.

Dr. Laura's reaction? "If you're going to marry out of your race, people are going to say, 'OK, what do blacks think?'" In other words -- although Dr. Laura alerts her bodyguard and "dear friend" is a black man -- she is seemingly of the mind that other white people don't have social circles as diverse as hers. Thus, if a white man marries a black woman, his white buddies will leap on the golden opportunity to ask a real, live black person what they and others like them think about various social issues. The black wife's response? She should laugh it off. If she doesn't, she's hypersensitive, lacks a sense of humor and doesn't fully appreciate the joys of racism.

Dr. Laura has a Ph.D. in physiology -- the study of tissues and cells -- and holds a certificate in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling. With such credentials, it's surprising her style of therapy seems to discourage open communication. I wonder what her advice for other couples is? Don't worry if your husband's friend calls you a slut or fatass. That's funny! It's a joke.

Escaped Arizona convicts Tracy Province, John McCluskey hiding in Yellowstone National Park: police

A pair of escaped convicts and their alleged "Girl Friday" may be camping out at Yellowstone National Park, authorities said Sunday, with at least one linked to the murder of two people.

The twosome broke out of an Arizona prison July 30, along with a third man, and allegedly have gone on a crime spree as they make their way northward.

Tracy Province and John McCluskey, who authorities believe were aided in their escape by Casslyn Welch, are believed to have made their way into parts of the park that span Montana and Wyoming.

The third convict, Daniel Renwick, was arrested in Colorado on Aug. 1.

Police also fear either Province or McCluskey was involved in a double murder of a couple from Oklahoma in New Mexico.

The badly burned skeletal remains of Linda and Gary Haas — both 61 — were found in a charred camper Wednesday morning on a remote ranch in Santa Rosa. The couple's pickup truck was found that afternoon 100 miles west in Albuquerque.

Authorities also believe that Province may have split from the group, but all three are thought to be in the northern parts of Yellowstone and heading for Canada.

"They are very dangerous individuals, very desperate individuals, and the longer they're out there, the more desperate they become and the more dangerous they become," said Thomas Henman, supervisory deputy with the U.S. Marshals Service in Phoenix.

Protests at Expendables premiere

Arnold Schwarzenegger's brief appearance in The Expendables was enough to bring out protesters to the movie's Hollywood premiere.

Mixed among the hundreds of fans who packed out Hollywood Boulevard, protesters over the sweeping redundancies in the bankrupt state held up signs addressed to the Governor of California, saying things like "State workers are not Expendable" and "Arnold - terrible actor, worse governor".

The Terminator star was rumoured to be in attendance but didn't walk the red carpet, unlike Bruce Willis who surprised fans by showing up at the last minute.

The A-lister admitted Sylvester Stallone hadn't needed to do much convincing to get him on board.

"He just asked and we're friends," he told reporters.

But the actor joked he wouldn't take on any of his fellow action stars in a real-life battle.

"I wouldn't do it, I'm scared to death that I have to go up and stand next to them right now!" he laughed, before heading in to introduce the film.
